Servicing of vehicles - cars and vans - in Dorset: at Longham Motor Engineers we can offer our customers one of two types of vehicle service, depending on what is needed - an Interim Service or a Major (Full) Service. We are located in Ferndown, Dorset.

We carry out the Industry Standard Service, as specified by The Good Garage Scheme, so you can be sure that your vehicle is being correctly serviced.

Modern unleaded, low sulphur fuels leave sticky tars and varnishes in engines and fuel systems. This will impair your car's performance, and also increase exhaust emissions.

During our industry standard service of your vehicle, we will add Forté, so your service will remove fuel related contamination.

An Interim Service includes these items:

Check vehicle history
Check for damage to bodywork, lamps and trims
Fit protective covers
Check condition and operation of all seat belts
Check operation of interior and exterior lights
Check windscreen washers and wipers
Check horn
Check operation of suspension dampers
Lubricate all door hinges, locks and bonnet hatches
Check fuel cap
Check cooling system including fan operation
Check and record Anti-Freeze protection
Check all auxilliary drive belts
Check power steering operation and fluid condition
Check and to up all under bonnet fluid levels
Change oil, filter and fit new sump lug washer
Check fuel lines and brake pipes
Check the condition and security of the exhaust
Check all steering and suspension joints, mounting and gaiters
Carry out tyre report
Check all wheel bearings for excessive play and noise (adjust if required)
Check CV gaiters and joints for wear and splits
Visible checking of operation and condition of brakes
Refill engine oil
Reset service lights, if applicable.

A full service includes all the above, and also these items:

Check timing belt replacement interval
Check operation of ABS and/or air bag warning lights
Check air conditioning operation, including bad odour
Apply treatment(s) to remove internal contamination
Check and record brake fluid boiling point
Check engine breather system
Check vacuum pipes
Check full throttle settings and lubricate linkage
Check battery level and lubricate terminals
Replace air filter, spark plugs, fuel filter and pollen filter where applicable
Check Check and top up rear axle and transfer box oil levels where applicable
Check and top up gear box oil level
Check clutch adjustment and adjust
Grease all greasing points
Check operation and condition of all brakes
Carry out brake report
Torque wheel nuts/studs
Road test vehicle
Re-check engine oil level
Carry out emission report if applicabe
Ensure all upholstery, gear lever, steering wheel etc are clean
